A squash ‘n’ a squeeze on Southwark Street

A custom typeface to communicate the ever-expanding force of glass, concrete and powerful developers on Southwark Street which have dominated for years, taking prevalence over the rich industrial history for which it was once known.

Posters feature the lost historic facts about the communities that have occupied the street, compressed by inflated letterforms from the custom typeface.

Screenprinted silver on 160gsm black guide to the industries which used to dominate Southwark Street, and the ones that take prevalence now. One side features shapes of the buildings from a top down view layered onto each other, and the opposite names the companies.

Built from foil balloons and showcasing the secondary typeface Thorowgood, the street sign can be inflated into the gaps and cracks of Southwark Street that builds are yet to expand into.
